It's Raining!

RHS Wisley was holding a late noght opening today, so it was a good excuse to have a leisurely morning before heading over there, with hopes of catching the Lunar eclipse on the way home. Despite the high temperatures and lack of rain, the main show areas of the garden were still looking good.

As I walked along the canal, the skies were getting blacker and streaks of lightening, closely followed by thunder rumbled around.  The rain started in earnest while I was heading toward the glasshouse, but an umbrella I keep in the bottom of the bag kept the worst of it off, and I made my way to the cafe for a cup of coffee sitting under the canopy of large patio umbrellas relishing the smells and fresher air.

It was still raining on and off once I moved on, but still warm and it gave a classic "water drops" extra to my flower portraits.  This is a quickly selected edit of a wider shot taken in the Teaching Garden while it was still raining.

As for the lunar eclipse - no luck there as the clouds persisted. Apparently the next total total eclipse is around 4:45am 21 Jan 2019, so I'll probably miss that one too unless I havea restless night!
