Lathyrus Odoratus

Wall

Another afternoon on the South Downs walking the spaniel and searching for Clouded Yellows. It was really very windy so even if I had found a Clouded Yellow I wouldn't have been able to photograph it anyway.  I was pleased to find quite a few Wall or Wall Brown which fortunately tend to perch in sheltered chalk scrapes and could be photographed. This is a bivoltine species so this is most likely a second brood male (the female lacks the thick dark bar - the sex brand - running across each forewing).
