A Day Worth Recording

For J

A family funeral today.  E's brother-in-law was diagnosed with cancer only a few months ago but it was an established one and any treatment would only have meant delay.

It was, however, a celebratory 'sending off'. As the Minister said in his opening words, whatever your preconceptions of a funeral are, this isn't going to be it.  J had a love, and an incredible encyclopedic knowledge, of music.  The family had invited attendees to wear music related T-shirts and other bright clothes.  Not sure I ever expected to go to a funeral wearing a Pink Floyd-inspired T-shirt, but it was the right thing to do on this occasion.

It was a good funeral.

The flowers included a lot of white buddleia from their garden.  During the wake afterwards E and I took this arrangement apart and created bouquets for individual friends and relations to take home.
