a lifetime burning

We've spent this afternoon at Kevin's rustic barbecue lamb roast to celebrate his 50th birthday, his father's 80th birthday and his children's 18th and 20th birthdays respectively.  None of the birthdays were actually today, but they're all this year, which is therefore quite a year in his household.

Kevin is one of my band mates - he plays a mean tenor sax.  He's also a local sheep farmer, his farm being slightly to the west of the hill that featured in yesterday's shot. The weather was not great for an outdoor barbecue, so we were all in the lambing shed today.  At this time of year it is not being used for much so it was a great space for the party.  Needless to say, the lamb that he roasted on a spit over an open fire was absolutely delicious.

I've experimented in Affinity with this shot of an artichoke - the light wasn't great so a black and white HRR treatment was the best that I could do with it, and in the end, I rather like the end result which is very like a pen and ink sketch.
