Aquamarine/Nanna K's Day

Libby

This is day #10 of this little seal pup hanging out here……since July 22 when all I could think was that there would be another dead one that didn’t make it.   Well, I have hopes…now we can name her —Actually Fiona had already named her Libby from photos, (“Elizabeth being too formal”)       She’s pretty irresistible , don’t you think?    Looked several times  (big south wind today) but did not see her til late afternoon when there she was, in the sun, under the wharf, just at the edge of the tide coming in, being warm and dry.   She heard us and started her move up the beach…about 10 feet below me on the wharf...  It’s so hard to move on land when you have no legs…takes energy.  And this part is very flat so the tide goes out a long way.   Put 2 other photos on extra so you can see her move up the beach under the wharf… now the tide is almost up, so we’ll look again later.     Have heard her cry…I think she’s pissed at Mom for maybe weaning her.   but she’s clearly OK at the moment.. maybe she’s a vegetarian seal eating seaweed…  :-)   there must be some protein creatures  in it… and there’s a lot of little pile perch under the dock so maybe she gets some.    She’s a feisty one!
