Flower Study #2

Dear Diary,

My Rose of Sharon is in full and magnificent bloom.  I planted this variety because it would provide such a pleasant contrast to all the yellow and orange this time of year brings to the garden.  I call it "lavender-blue", my favorite color really.  Each blossom is such a beauty to photograph.  At this time of the year I am spoiled by all the possibilities.

Our beautiful summer weather continues even though today, according to the Celtic calendar, is the first day of autumn.  It is the beginning of the "gathering-in" time.  If I had a garden, this would be the beginning of the canning season.  I am spoiled by all the veggie options in the grocery stores.  In all respects, it is a time of great abundance.
