Life in Newburgh on Ythan

By Talpa

On this day 100 years ago

Somewhere, in a parallel universe, James Bigglesworth and his cousin the Hon. Algernon Montgomery Lacey are on patrol in their Sopwith Camels, above a strange desert. Suddenly, they spot Lt. Friederich Kempf in his Fokker Dr.I., flying far below them.

Biggles to Algy: Let's show this sausage guzzler what this thing can do.
Algy: Go for it.

Of course this photograph has been heavily processed and artificial colour has been added. The original 1918 sepia wet plate, taken by Algy, can be seen as an extra.
