Slow and Local

I spent this morning looking at a customer's laptop; she was complaining it was running slow and not loading the wireless network. I fiddled with it and amended the wireless properties, then spent time uploading Firefox plugins that were reported as out of date. Acrobat Adobe Reader took forever to install version 9, only then to be told it would like version XI. Quicktime and Java followed.

Eventually everything seemed to be OK, but running installations on a slow computer is like watching paint dry.

I was ready for coffee this afternoon and we vegetated in Nero with the papers. I took this photo of our local corner shop on the way home. Dusk was descending and the shop stood out like an oasis. It's a funny thing about local shops, everybody likes them and feels they ought to be there and miss them when they close, but do most of their shopping at one of the large supermarkets (us included). How they make enough money on papers and milk I'll never know. Our shop here even sells fruit and veg, and always has a great display outside. Long may it prosper.
