Healthy Start

It has been a good day.

It was productive at work, and the only difficult situation was one of the Goth’s cases, so my involvement was indirect. It was still upsetting of course, because the woman was talking about suicide. She’s had all her social security benefits removed and has no money.

She has done nothing wrong - it’s just London’s reforms, coupled with the private company which carries out the disability assessments being on financial incentives to cut benefit payments - plus their staff are on bonuses to make sure it happens. We see assessments which are a bunch of lies because someone has a target to hit.

We had a guy in earlier in the week who has had a social security funded car for years because of his disability, and it means he has a job because he can get to work. The government (UK, not Scottish) is taking his car away and so he may lose his job. Sometimes in these situations social security will pay for taxis to get him to/from work, and of course that costs much more than the car.

Rant over. But I feel better.

Tonight - holiday planning I think. I have 10 days off at the end of September, and need to get some bookings made soon. Ideas. Research. Options. Decisions. Plans.

The Blip - my (mostly) healthy breakfast. The smoothie was great. Strawberries, a banana, a bit of turmeric root and coconut water.
