Feathers are taking a Beating

I went back to the beach today; traffic was bumper to bumper but moving well  at 50 MPH. The really nice thing was that no one was tailgating; it seemed that everyone was following at a safe distance.

Hubby was anxious to go out on the boat soon after I got here. We dropped a couple crab traps then we cruised around the bay watching the birds and getting some photos. The brown Pelicans, like the one in the Blip photo, were plentiful and regularly diving for fish. We enjoyed watching them doing  high dives and landing beak first into the water. Looking at this guy, it seems like their wings must take a beating when they hit that water hard.

We have only seen a few Pelican in the last few years, but there were a large number of them in the Bay today. We saw a few birds we had not seen before; I haven't looked up what they are yet. I really enjoy being out in the boat on a calm day like today. And we got enough crab for dinner and to serve to company coming tomorrow.   Now I must be off to bed.
