A view from Jeanneb

Mars.

Another great five miler this morning. Wilsden Walker met us in the village having driven down from the village above and said there was mist over the Moor. The sky looked as blue as blue so we went anyway. It was a clear as a bell though we could see cloud inversion in the Aire Valley.

We crossed Harden Moor where there is lots of heather blooming as well as red berries on the Rowan trees but my neighbour wanted to have a look at neighbouring Catstones Moor which was on fire just a month ago.

We crossed the road to the Moor which is above the village of Cullingworth. The paths are still there but instead of heather there is acrid smelling black earth. We walked over to take in this sight. There has been quarrying on these moors in years gone by but because of the heather and bilberry bushes we didn't really know this quarried ravine was here. The rocks look amazing. You can see the three of us in the shadows.

This looks pretty desolate but bright green ferns (bracken) are braking through elsewhere.

We continued back along the top side of Goit Stock. The weather was hot and glorious - will this be the last of it?

Eda is enjoying herself on the beach and is officially crawling (I was sent a video this afternoon) but apparently is not too keen on sand!

Had an hour off from papering for a pedicure this afternoon, bliss!
