Anchor

I popped to the bank in Wetherby first thing to pay in some cash for Mrs madwill. Whilst there I photographed this large anchor, which has recently been relocated to near the town centre from the front of a private residence which has been demolished to make way for several new houses.

It was salvaged from near the Isle of Flotta, in Scapa flow which was the Royal Navy anchorage during two world wars. The only naval link to Wetherby is that there used to be a training base here, which is now the HM Young Offenders Institute.

I then went to Doncaster to take our granddaughter for an eye check up at Worksop, our daughter is unable to drive at the moment due to the impending arrival of next grandchild (three sleeps to go). Little one ‘failed’ a school eyesight test, but passed today with flying colours. We think she just got bored with the tests at school!

So today I have been mostly driving (again)… with a very slow (Friday afternoon) journey home back up the A1.
