St. James's Park: Ross'sling on the Wing

Flightier in large.
Alternative: Swirling Ross'sling

It had to be this, because I finally caught the Ross'sling in controlled flight! Go, Ross'sling, go! Uplifting...
The Ross'sling landed gracefully on the water (series right from here), but its father was rather less controlled: he spiralled in because one wing is clipped, resulting in a spectacular crash/splash landing...
I'd set out for macro shots of the Ross'sling's cute face, but also caught it doing Pilates and showing off its patterned primariesflapping, shaking, marching by, and posing for an amusing portrait with its parents.

Others photos included a cute white-faced pintail, amazing aggregations of parent (shield) bugs, and the pelicans (taking off, posing like celebrities, and flying away from the gathered mob...).

Others are all here (or right from Looking and lowing)
