A Man with a Head for Heights

Well, for all you sufferers in 100° of heat, please feel free to join us in Edinburgh for the Festival with the streets awash with rainwater, the result of a second day of continuous precipitation, and a heady temperature of 16°.
Bring your raincoats but please not your brollies- they are lethal in crowds- eyes are precious commodities but not much use on the end of an umbrella spoke.

We had cause to hand in something to our lawyer this morning and glided up to the offices on level 6 of the building in a glass fronted lift. With no head for heights, I was glad of the rail in front of me to hang on to as we gazed down on the ground far below us.

The sight of this worker standing exposed on the high platform of the adjoining building being refurbished, gave me goosebumps. Likewise, watching the divers on the highest board in the European Diving championships at the weekend when they stood facing backwards with only their toes in contact with any thing solid or worse still, did a perfect handstand at the very edge of the board seemed to me to be out of the realm of possibility.
People are so different......but hey, maybe they are scared of spiders .......
