Transitions

Here is the latest entry in my chronicle of the hydrangea bush in Endless Weekend's garden.  Looking at the dried out, but still beautiful, fading blossoms, I was startled to see that there were bright blue ones as well, and even a few green blossoms just starting off (Extra).  So much going on at once - so far climate change hasn't beaten this plant down.

Driving back, I was startled to pass a pile of rubble that was an elementary school just a week ago.  Shoreline is growing fast, both because of the excellent school system and because there will be a light rail station there in the future.  The timing seems odd to me, since clearly a new school won't be finished before the school year starts, but the cleared land is far larger than the footprint of the old school.  I guess we'll see the new one next year.

Speaking of transitions, there was a care conference at the facility where my older sister is living.  There had been a plan to move her to an adult family home, one neither EW nor I thought was a good fit, but that bed became unavailable.  So now they are looking for another place, sending out her information to three more.  We are all hoping something will turn up soon, as her Medicare funding for occupational and physical therapy will run out at the end of the week.  She could continue to stay there, but with no therapeutic services, as Medicaid doesn't cover that. It would be good to have her settled.

Not as warm today as predicted, but that is because smoke from wildfires in British Columbia is blocking the sun.  Tomorrow we will get smoke from fires east of the Cascades, keeping us from the 90's originally forecast.  I can smell the smoke faintly even in my apartment, and we have bad air warnings for tomorrow.  We sure could use some rain.
