Torn nail

Seems like months since MrsMY was last over for a ride. I suspect she has been on holiday but somehow I have been unaware of events going on around here.

Today is the Feast of the Assumption of Mary and thus a public holiday in most parts of Bavaria, the whole of the State of Saarland on the French border. Otherwise in Germany a normal working day. Only the parishes in Bavaria that have a majority of Roman Catholics get the day off which is the majority - 352 of the 2,056 parishes are not and they are mainly in the northern Franconian part of Bavaria. However we do have a couple of Protesatnt enclaves around us in Memmingen - strange "blip" in our local history going back to the  30 Years' War from 1618-1648.

As usual got the call after they had been out a while, to collect Luna before she collapsed from exhaustion. Drove out with Flash to meet them. Luna was also limping and bleeding from a foot where she had torn off a nail. However as Flash hadn't had his evening walk, Luna had to come along.

She yowled like crazy as the girls rode off and pulled wildly on the collar and lead to try and break away. I think I pulled her around most of the first half of the circular walk until she sensed we were heading back in the direction where the girls were last seen. I can't remember the last time we had a walk with her on a lead. Importantly Flash went very well.

Back home had to lock Luna in the house until the girls got back  Last time, I let Luna out before they arrived thinking she would wait patiently on the drive. However, when she heard the girls talking (as girls do) well over 500m away, she took off and crossed the road to dash across the fields and escort them home.

In the Blip, Flash, on the right, in his typical "protection" mode - standing in front of the horses to ensure they don't get up to mischief or even consider bolting. Control freak. Luna's toenail looked bad when examined closely and so she will be off to the vet tomorrow.
