Another Monarch butterfly! When we were coming back from our walk there were two of them on the butterfly weed that is growing in the - still uncut - hayfield. Every other year that butterfly weed has been mowed early in the summer, come up again and bloomed in mid-summer, and then been mowed before being able to go to seed in late summer. This year it has seed pods on it, so I'm planning to grab some of them and see if I can get some started up near the house somewhere.
This butterfly is a bit ragged around the edges - I guess that means it won't be one of the ones that fly all the way to Mexico. But I'm sure it's done its job and helped provide us with new Monarchs!
Going out with the Ladies tonight for the monthly dinner. So commenting will be curtailed.
