La Vie à Quatre Roues! Jour 7

Chinon, Indre-et-Loire

A third day travelling east, following the Loire river.

Up at the crack of dawn in order to get the best bargains at Saumur’s monthly Brocante market (see extra). But worth getting up that early to enjoy views of Saumur’s castle basking in the morning sun, directly from our camping pitch (see extra).

Leaving Saumur, we stopped at a string of villages: Turquant to look at troglodyte houses, Candes St Martin for a walk along the Loire, and Montsoreau to shop at the market and wander the lanes above the village, with views over the Château and river (see extras). After a picnic by the Loire, it was on to Fontevraud-l’Abbaye to visit the vast royal abbey (see extra), before finally arriving in Chinon where we set up camp by the river and spent the rest of the afternoon and evening taking in this wonderful view of Chinon’s fortress, from our camping pitch, by day and by night...

(Thank you for your kind comments, stars and hearts for yesterday’s blips. Sorry for my continued absence. I think I shall need a holiday after this non-stop holiday! Too tired to decide which extras to use so I’ve whacked them all in! A backblip posted on Jour 10 from Chenonceaux.)
