Life through the lens...

Woody woodpecker

You ever know what to expect when you go to the bird hides at Adel Dam.
No sign of the kingfisher today, but this woodpecker came close to the hide, and I managed to get a few good photos.
The nuthatches were unfortunately too quick for me.

A lovely warm sunny day. Up to 22C.
We had a lovely walk round the lake, and through the woods, where the sunlight through the trees was beautiful.
We had lunch sat outside on the terrace overlooking the gardens.Just managed to get a table as it was busy because the school holidays.
Afterwards we went to see the vegetables, more flower beds, and the greenhouses.
They also have a special dahlia section.
We could vote for our favourite, which was very difficult as they were all fabulous.
Mine was called “ Clearview Cameron”. See extra photo.
They also had some unusual tomatoes. See extra.
These were almost black, and called “ Indigo cherry drops”.
I am a bit old fashioned and prefer my tomatoes red, although quite like small yellow cherry ones.

Golden Acre is in my opinion a perfect park, which has everything.
Lakes, woods, bird hides, ( provided by Yorkshire Wildlife ) lawns, flower beds, vegetables plots, and a cafe.
A big thank you to Leeds Council. We do need theses green places. Especially for our mental as well as physical well being.
