Sgwarnog: In the Field

Transe Express

It's the middle of November, so it must be time to turn on Bradford's Christmas lights.

This time last year the barriers were still up around the soon to be unveiled City Park, so the show was in its traditional spot in front of the Town Hall. Today the Park was centre stage, with the French aerialist troupe Transe Express occupying the middle of the (drained) mirror pool, and the crowd gathered all around. I haven't really got an image that does their performance justice, but this one gives a sense of the visual spectacle: a Christmas chandelier of musicians and acrobats suspended high over the city. The musical combination of drumming and bells worked beautifully, and set things up nicely for a fireworks finale.

Another great City Park event to bring the city together.
