Stuff and Nonsense

Terrapin

A very busy day at work but just enough time for a quick drive to the flash to seek out the kingfishers before heading over to mum and dad's.
The kings were not in residence as far as I was concerned, but then I didn't stay long in any hide so wasn't really surprised.
The weather was better than I thought it would be but there wasn't too much to see, apart from this terrapin in the pool opposite the Tom Edmondson hide that somebody informed me about as I was leaving. I don't remember seeing one before apart from in a zoo, so it made a nice change.
My dad has not been very well recently and after many months had been referred to see a chest specialist this week. It turns out that he has got emphysema - mild COPD, and not asthma for which he has been using inhalers for many years....He's nearly 80 and smoked for over 50 years, stopping over 10 years ago, but this has obviously done long term irreparable damage to his lungs. Hopefully he is now on the right medication which might relieve his symptoms a little but of course there is no cure and he won't really get any better.
Anyway, he said he's feeling a tad better today and they are off to the Lake District for a week tomorrow so I hope they have a great time.
