Scramble

It sounded like such an easy walk, 7 km and 100 m of climbing, but as you can see it involved some scrambling. Also it was 30C, and virtually the whole walk was in full sun. Pity we didn't have our swimming costumes with us. Although the couple sunbathing on this secluded beach were probably relieved that we didn't -- all was peace till 26 noisy walkers arrived and made a great performance of scrambling down this rock. M apologised for disturbing them, and we moved further on for our traditional Speculoos break (for some reason the leader of each walk is always provided with a packet of Speculoos).

Home for a cooling shower, and then into the breach to prepare for the eight people we'd invited for dinner. Hence my cooking of wild boar yesterday. It turned out really well, pity S accidentally set the oven to grill while making the Yorkshire puddings (most of them were salvaged and turned out surprisingly well in the circumstances). The meal also featured apricot trifle. We had a riotous international evening (French, English, Irish, Belgian, German) with quite a few bottles being emptied. I was so dehydrated from my walk that I mostly drank water, but still felt a bit wobbly and exhausted when we waved our guests off at midnight.
