Jab Tak Hai Jaan

It's rare that I get to feed my interest in Indian films at the cinema here and I love it when I get the chance to go and see a film on the big screen.

This film has some significance as it is the last film directed by Yash Chopra. Chopra was a big name in Bollywood - he produced and directed some cracking films. This was his first with SRK* since 2004's Veer Zaara and I was looking forward to it a lot.

I was not disappointed.

It might be a spit under three hours long and there are enough WTF moments to make you know you're watching a Bollywood film. And trust me, you haven't seen a WTF moment until you've seen How Medicine Works In A Bollywood Film. This is a masala movie (which means it has a bit of everything - action, romance, comedy and a bit of song and dance) and it is a very good one.

I've heard the I've-seen-a-couple-and-they-were-stupid argument against Bollwood films a lot. Strange how people have seen a couple but can never remember the name of the film, who was in it or what it was about... And as far as those people who moan "but people burst into song and dance for no reason", I'm sure they all hated Grease and Mamma Mia too.

*SRK is Shahrukh Khan and he's acting in this and he's stopped pretending he's something he isn't.
