Bow Lake

After 5 comfortable nights in our hotel in Canmore, we set off to drive part way up the Icefields Parkway towards Jasper. We've now stopped for 2 nights at the hotel by the Athabasca Glacier (a change from the planned itinerary, which had us stopping at Saskatchewan River Crossing a few miles down the road).

It wasn't a very long journey so we had time for several photo stops. I decided to render the main blip as a gritty mono as that seems to suit the view better than the colour version. I was rather taken with the dramatic clouds around the mountain in the first extra (also at Bow Lake) and with the reflections from the lake seen through the trees in the second extra (if my memory serves me correctly that was at Waterfowl Lake).

As you can see the weather continues to be much more wintry than is usual here at this time of year, which meant that some of our planned photo stops weren't possible as some roads are closed. However this doesn't bother us as there's so much fantastic scenery anyway! It may however influence our plans for the next few days - we'll see what the weather brings tomorrow but the forecast is for more snow!
