One of a new colony

After finishing work a tad earlier than usual, I went to Western Springs Lake. Lots of birds, many very active. The spoonbills were in their trees on one of the islands. From the very first time I saw spoonbills at Western Springs, they have gathered on this island, which means that the closest I can get is about 100m away across an inlet. This one was nicely placed and kept relatively still.
