Reculver

A day exploring the north Kent coast. Whitstable, Herne Bay, Reculver and Margate, all new to us.

En route we passed Thanet Earth, an enormous area (220 acres) under glass. It produces a significant proportion of the UK’s salad vegetables (or are they fruits ?). 225 million tomatoes, for example.

These towers at Reculver are a real landmark. Sitting on a cliff edge, the rest of the priory was pulled down in 1805 as it was too dangerous. These were kept as a landmark for shipping.
