It Never Rains But It Pours

Singing in the rain? .......... Well NO, he wasn't!!

Lying on the lounge floor with the patio door open for this one! All under control at this point as you can see. The water level here had dropped quite considerably about 7 inches or so so I felt I could come in to make coffees and snap a quick blip!

Threw open the curtains to torrential rain; peeked down to see the low lying terrace not just flooded but with water rising rapidly round the house. Threw on our clothes to grab the water pumps purchased after the massive floods of 2007 in Tewkesbury.
The water pours off the surrounding fields towards us with there being just a slight incline and then there is nowhere for it to go as this terrace next to the house forms a moat. The water was up to the sills already. The big pump luckily started first time but the little one took a while - well they hadn't been used for a bit! Shot off down the road for 2 more cans of fuel and the road was completely drowned and unpassable in one direction. Cheery note from the postman who unusually wasn't wearing his shorts today , saying we were not on our own in the pumping saga!

The pump at the back here is sending water into the field and the one at the front fountaining water into the ditch across the road . Between them they can move 1850 litres a minute and they have been working solidly since 9:30 - so by my calculations by 2:30 we'll have shifted 500,000 litres! Quite a considerable amount. Switching them off just means it all fills up again. Listening to the forecast and another bank of rain is going to follow - hey ho!
