Under the Viaduct

I often hear people having a little moan about the fact that there is a 30mph section on the M5 motorway between junctions 1 and 2 at the moment.  Apparently this is to enable maintenance work to be done on what is a quite complex elevated section above the very built up area of the Black Country on the edge of Birmingham.  Some of the time the traffic is moving.  Slowly, but it does move.  Other times, it's a little congested.

BUT, this is what is directly underneath that section of motorway.  There is a phenomenal amount of scaffolding, some men doing stuff in their hi-vis jackets, all sorts of interesting sounds, and, today, some wonderful light and reflections.  This is the view one way.  In the extra is the view the other way - canal barges are still flowing serenely along, usually with dogs on board too.

It seems to say something about out world - the old and the new and the way we live such diverse lives.  I shall go back and see it on a different type of day...
