Parrog

Holiday backblip 5

We had intended to walk on the Preseli Hills today, but as we neared our proposed starting point, realised that we would be walking in low cloud/mist, with no views whatsoever. So MrM turned the car round and we headed towards Newport, on the coast, where it was a lot less murky.

First a short walk by the estuary - we spent some time watching a large egret wading through the water. Then to Newport Parrog, where we ate our sandwiches in the car (and out of the drizzle) overlooking the harbour. The weather brightened up a little, and we spent most of the afternoon enjoying a walk along a beautiful stretch of the coastal path from Parrog, tarrying on the way back to watch seals bobbing up and down in the water.

In to Fishguard in the evening to the music session at the Royal Oak. MrM was hoping to play fiddle, but the pub was full to overflowing and it difficult to get anywhere the musicians (who were almost all dressed as pirates!). Eventually we found seats at the back of the pub, and had a drink and listened for a while before returning to the cottage.
