Laugharne Castle

Holiday backblip 6

MrM was keen to go to Laugharne, in Carmarthenshire, where Dylan Thomas lived with his wife and children for the last 4 years of his life. Thomas described it as the "Strangest town in Wales", and apparently Llareggub (read it backwards...) in 'Under Milk Wood' was based on it. We  enjoyed walking on part of the 'Dylan Thomas Birthday Walk', and saw the boathouse on the Taf Estuary where he lived and, nearby, the cliff-top garage where he wrote. Resisted going in to Browns Hotel which Thomas used to frequent on a regular basis. A lovely little town, it was well worth a visit.

Back to the cottage via Carmarthen for a very late lunch, and to explore the town. We even found Merlin - next to Argos!
