Salvage from the Wreckage

I wrote the manual on handling manuals

Remember a few weeks ago when I made jokes predicated on the reuse of the terminology for a physical activity to act as a metaphor for a regrettably over-frequent business process? Moving goalposts?
Well, today was the day of the course. Unfortunately, no actual goalposts were moved during the course of the, err, course. The practical part of the exercise focussed instead on the useful activity of moving partially full boxes of printer paper from floor to table, table to floor and table to table.

The course was a useful 15 minute primer in some common-sense principles for safe moving of objects. Unfortunately, the course took two and a half hours (scheduled for three hours but time off for good behaviour).

But I got a certificate.
