Little Horton (Tuesday 16th October 2018)

My corner of Wiltshire is currently blighted by new building sites and traffic lighted roadworks (possibly the two are connected). On the west side of Devizes the tailback was so bad that instead of reaching Caen Hill and beyond I had to burrow down backroads just to reach Lidl, and then turn back.
The Lidl shopping experience was so stressful (toddlers crying, people generally) that I needed an hour long walk to restore normality.
This is what the Kennet and Avon exists for. I set off from the Bridge Inn at Little Horton along the towpath initially heading north towards a swing bridge. It was a brighter day than Monday so I was able to enjoy some autumn colour. There were no birds around until the canal had arced around to a road bridge on the Horton Road where a kestrel was hovering, but I did meet a couple of friendly canal cats.

Lozarhythm Of The Day:
The Miracles - You've Really Got A Hold On Me (recorded 16 October 1962, Hitsville Studios, Detroit MI)
Recorded 56 years ago this day, this classic Motown song written and sung by Smokey Robinson, with the Miracles including his wife Claudette, Bobby Rogers double-tracked harmonies and Marv Tarplin's guitar, is preceded here by the instrumental backing track, highlighting the wonderful playing of the Funk Brothers in the "snakepit" basement studio.
