Distortions in Spacetime

I was back at the Manchester Science Festival again today for 'Distortions in Spacetime', one of their headline events.

The idea behind the event was to replicate what it would feel like to step into a black hole and we had to prepare to be "stretched, squashed and spaghettified" in a spacetime singularity.

We were first transformed into cosmic matter (I am second on the right) and we scattered across the universe as we moved our arms. My bum looked rather large as cosmic matter!! Our molecules then started to combine, we all became one and finally got sucked into the black hole.

It was all rather beautiful! You can see the rest of our journey in my extra photo.

Quote for today:
The cosmos is within us. We are made of star-stuff. We are a way for the universe to know itself.
- Carl Sagan
