Poppies

In the centre of the village is this bicycle decorated with knitted and crocheted poppies. I'm not sure of the significance of the bicycle, but the poppies add to the growing appearance of poppies everywhere, more than ever this year.
These were made at The Grange, a residential establishment in the village where disabled people learn craft skills. It used to be called "The School of Stitchery and Lace" and was for girls only, but now there are male residents as well, and they learn gardening and cookery too. They have a shop in the village where their work is sold. They have put poppies round the lych gate too - see extra.
I walked down to the village, carrying out my resolve to walk more. It was a long drag up the hill home with the shopping. Perhaps it wasn't such a good idea after all!
