Wanderings & Witterings

Rough Castle

It was an excellent little, and familiar, walk with Cumbernauld & Kilsyth Ramblers on Tuesday.

Meeting at the Falkirk Wheel, we walked up towards the Antonine Wall and followed one of the paths to Rough Castle (pictured), the site of a Roman fort and one of the best-preserved stretches of the Antonine Wall.

From there we continued down towards Bonnybridge and through the 'Radical Pend' before joining the Forth and Clyde Canal and walking back along the towpath to the Wheel.

We had fine weather, too. Always a bonus at this time of year.
