Life's Little Moments

My, what lovely eye (lashes) you have

One of the things I really wanted to photograph here was the eye-lash viper, one of Costa Rica's tiny venomous snakes.  Well, as luck would have it, our guides found a beautiful and cooperative little viper for us to shoot.  A very small snake, as you can see from its size relative to the flower it is on.  These vipers vary widely in color and mainly hunt in trees and flowers, taking small birds, arthropods and amphibians.

Tonight half of our group is off to photograph fruit-nectarine bats.  We'll be back late, so won't attempt to edit those shots until some future point in time.  I will be posting many shots on Flickr once I return to the States.  In the meantime, off to do some more shooting!  And tomorrow morning, half of our group will be off to photograph King Vultures.  Please click on the #cr18 link to see everyone's photos.
