Life's Little Moments

By dbifulco

Amazing!

I'm late getting this posted owing to the very poor internet connection in the rain forest (go figure!)  However, today we've moved to a much larger lodge which also has good wifi.  So, game on.

This photo was taken after we spent a full morning photographing the magnificent King Vultures.  I was very certain that I was going to blip one of those magnificent birds, but then along came a brilliantly hued male golden-hooded Tanager with a fledgling in tow.  There were four of us on the deck at the time, and you've never heard a bunch of shutters firing so fast in your life as we realized that the male was about to feed his offspring a bit of banana.  These are incredibly small birds, smaller than sparrows, and the males are truly breathtaking with their vivid plumage.  Special moment.  And, if you are wondering about the speckles, it was raining.

The evening was topped off with a bit of "bugging" during which we found the worlds largest cockroach (truly), a shy tarantula, several beautiful moths, several praying mantids and katydids.  A very good day.

I have given up trying to edit my photos during this trip.  Wasting valuable daylight hours isn't an option and, frankly, I'm totally exhausted at night.  So, I will continue to pick a shot each day to blip and do the massive edits when I'm back home next week.

Many thanks for all the hearts and stars and major apologies for not commenting or responding.  Time is precious and wifi is precarious.
