A time for everything

Leaf strewn path

Sunday
A good service at church, considering gratitude and giving. The anthem went pretty well, despite still missing several people. There was no bible study today, so that gave us time to get home, change, have a quick bit of lunch, and fit a walk in at Sharon Woods, before returning to church for 2.30 for the first of our church’s concert series. It didn’t start until 3pm, but our director had suggested getting there early to see if there was anything needed doing. The concert was given by the Blue Ash and Montgomery Symphony orchestra and the Cincinnati Choral society. The major piece by the Choral Society was Lux Aeterna by the contemporary American composer Morten Lauridsen, and is one of my favorite pieces of choral music, though this was the first time I had heard it in concert. It’s just a gorgeous piece. He wrote it in 1997, the year his mother died. After the concert, there was a reception, so by the time we got home, we weren’t particularly hungry, so we just had some homemade soup and cheese and crackers - an easy supper!
