Gartmorn Dam

A morning walk at Gartmorn Dam which is believed to be Scotland's oldest reservoir. Built in the 17th century it originally powered the local the coal mines. It's now part of the Alloa water supply and provides a lovely circular walk of 3 miles (extra). Lots of wildfowl, both resident and overwintering. And the visitor centre has a good cafe with four choices of home made gluten free cake.

Off to collect the three year old soon for her weekly sleepover.
