Birnbeck Pier

Sitting on Birnbeck Island at Weston-super-Mare in the Bristol Channel, the now derelict Birnback Pier is the only one in the country to link the mainland with an island. It was popular in the 19th and early 20th centuries, with locals and visitors, but delivered its last passengers on board a steamer in 1979. Now, sadly, despite its Grade II Listed Building status, it's fallen into disrepair and is left to the rigours of tides and storms.  See wider views in my Extras.

Thank you to everyone who visited my yesterblip on my 8-year blippiversary for your kind comments, stars and hearts that placed Matilda in the top five journal entries on the Popular pages. Amazed and delighted to see Matilda sitting there in such excellent company. You're all very kind.
