The long arm of ...

After living in the Pacific Northwest for so many years, I'm finally visiting the Olympic peninsula; and more specifically, the towns of Sequim and Port Angeles. The reason for the visit, however, is a somber one: we are attending the memorial for my dear Vanessa's mom, the wonderful Donna B., who recently lost her battle with lung cancer.

Sequim is touted as the sunniest, driest spot in the state of Washington, but that certainly wasn't the case today. The rain came down relentlessly, and there was no sunshine to be had. Despite that, we strolled through the quaint town, visiting the many gift shops and bookstores, all while soaked to the bone.

It was during the stroll through downtown that this mysterious appendage appeared, quietly stretching and uncoiling itself. What manner of creature was this in the fair town of Sequim!?
