Building works at the Longman BP fuel station, Inverness.

There's been a fuel station/garage  here for years, but in the Summer, when the old one was demolished, and the huge tanks dug out, we assumed the recession had taken its toll. Former Student's that returned in August, were shocked by its total disappearance, and the large hole left in the ground.

"What happened to the garage?"
" Yeah, where will we go for lunch?"
"Why not try the College canteen?"  I enquired.
"No way! It's far too expensive."

Of course, they were referring to the typical snack (junk IMHO) foodstuffs that are available in most fuel stations, rather than having a meal.

Back at the flattened site, surprise arose when a sign saying something about M&S foods appeared on the temporary fence, "A mini Marks & Spencers in the industrial estate? Perhaps they're going to be considering the very much larger site that will become available in a few years time, straight over the road... ? " Weeks later it is obvious that the place is being completely replaced with a new station, and they'll now be selling posh food... along with the, er, snacks etc.
