Life's Little Moments

Bumper Crop

Although our white-breasted nuthatches aren't fancy, I think they are beautiful in their own understated way.  And we currently have an abundance of them in the yard - at least six that I've been able to count at a single time.  Must have been a good breeding season.  This particular bird is a female - she looks very similar to the male except for having a grayer cap (the male's cap is very dark gray/black).  She was tooting in that particular way that nuthatches do as she moved down the branch to get at the feeder.

Got my annual mammogram done today and expect (good) results in a couple of days.  Always nice to get that one in my rear-view mirror.

Hubs is off to Pennsylvania for a meeting,  returning home tomorrow night.  Missing him, as I always do.

Happy to report that no bird rescues or other heroics were needed today.  The woodpeckers all seem in fine spirits after last week's scare as do the titmice.  Two chipmunks out scampering around this morning, along with 4 rather zoftig squirrels.  Honestly, if it wasn't nearly winter, I'd think those darned squirrels were pregnant!

Happy Monday, people.
