Foggy Figures

Went for lunch with Stephanie, and her son, here from France, lovely to chat for hours, we never seem to run out of topics.

Went up to Monsaraz on the way back, which you couldn't see at all from below, the fog has been thick all day, and very cold, especially up there with the wind blowing. Almost felt glad - that global warming hasn't totally taken over yet...

They fill the town with life-size Nativity figures; in the fog and with almost no-one about, felt quite ghostly. There are all sorts of figures, including three mounted on very strange camels, and they are all walking towards the castle, where there is a stable with Jesus and his parents.

Verse from today's reading - Isaiah 2:5, about how it will be when the Messiah reigns:

They’ll turn their swords into shovels,
    their spears into hoes.
No more will nation fight nation;
    they won’t play war anymore.

Catechism and Bible study tonight, the last till we get back in January. Enjoyed both, but got too cold in the catechism; when it's 5°C, you really could do with a bit of heat if you're sitting still for a couple of hours.
