Hedge Laying

Popped up to Gumley Village today to call in at the hedge laying competition. Another grey day whilst we were there but lovely to see a bit of plashing and pleaching! It's accompanied these days by the growl of chainsaws but it makes life easier for the hedgers.

Then down to The Bell for a couple of beers in front of a real fire. Bliss!

The extras include a couple of black and white pics of Clive Matthews, who has been laying hedges for the best of 50 years since 'he wor a lad' and this was his very last competition.
