the morning after

Last night was our Big Sleepout at Ellisland farm in aid of Social Bite. What an experience! The audience at the Young Trad concert donated £180 on their way out..the rain held off all night and the stars were so beautiful....we had a bedtime story around a blazing fire...I slept on the Tam O'Shanter Walk next to the Nith where Burns composed his famous poem... But best of all, I got to meet and spend the night with some amazing people :-)

Most of these people had never slept out before and many of them were worried about it, yet they were all prepared to put up with discomfort to raise money for those who have to put up with it every night. They dressed up like Michelin people, brought soup and pizza and mulled wine and embraced the whole experience with a really positive attitude. We had two tea ladies who made us hot drinks in the morning (see photo) and a wonderful storyteller. I got to know some people better and others for the first time, hearing about all the other things they do - organising  beach cleans for example - see here

A big THANK YOU to all the team! A thank you to the Friends of Ellisland for letting us use this wonderful place for our event. And thank you to all those people who donated - we have raised over £1000!

AS if that wasn't enough, it was Christmas day at our house today. Sarah, Luke and Chris made the dinner (see extra for this year's amazing vegan pie) and we are now about to put up the tree.

I think I shall sleep well tonight :-)
