St Laurence's church Christmas tree festival

Woodpeckers and I popped into St Laurence's church in Stroud at lunchtime after running a stall at Minchinhampton Country Market. There is a festival of Christmas trees in the church each year and Helena had decorated one for the nursery at St Rose's. There must have been a hundred trees dotted all around the interior of the church, all provided by local businesses, charities, schools and community groups. It was really pretty.

At midday a local choir gathered to sing some carols but we didn't have time to stay and listen. The church has become a focal point for many local community activities, and not necessarily from a Christian faith basis. It is right in the heart of the town and now that the pews have been replaced by moveable chairs it is a very useful space which means that larger numbers of people are using the church again.
