OLD...

...the theme for BobsBlips WidWed challenge. Thanks for hosting these  fun challenges Bob!
I took Tom for another doctor visit this morning--this time his specialist--& they're very happy with how things are going, so he'll continue with his chemo; next one will start on Monday. On the way home we stopped at Jones Island, which isn't really an island at all, but rather, a peninsula located at the mouth of the Milwaukee River.  It was settled in 1870 by a large group of Kashubian immigrants--Slavs from what is now Northwestern Poland & where they'd been fishermen on the Baltic Sea--  here, they fished in Lake Michigan (which is on the Eastern edge of the peninsula). However, they had no titles to the land, and were, in effect, squatters, so were evicted in 1920 as part of the re-design of the inner harbor. The area is now heavily industrialized. I'm standing on Jones Island, facing West & looking out across the Milwaukee River. This factory building has been here since the 1930's--I'm not sure what they make, but I see ships docked in front of it all summer long, filling up with whatever product they have. (Tom thinks cement). Just to the right of the building you can see the old trestle bridge, built in 1915, and no longer in service.  Another dreary, dark day, with intermittent rain. Hopefully we'll get some sun tomorrow! :)
