Blackbird, berries and rain

Today the weather has been appalling with continuous rain and strong wind and the forecast that it will turn into freezing rain tonight.  I was invited to a "do" but have wimped out and prefer a night in the warm to a long journey in bad road conditions.

There have been lots of birds in the garden including six blackbirds defending the remaining berries against all comers. I was sorry to see them sending off a lovely little male blackcap.

My blip is one of the blackbird gang about to tuck into the hawthorn berries. It's not a good photo as it's taken through the window. I did try opening it to get a better shot but was greeted with wind and rain rushing into the house so shut it again quickly!
