Life through the lens...

By ValC

Cosy and snug.

One of the many cosy rooms at the Old White Beare, Norwood Green, where we met up with my Brother-in -law and his wife for a lunch..
Chose the Christmas Menu and weren’t disappointed.
Three of us chose Confit of Duck Leg with a Belly Pork, Butter bean and Tomato Casserole with Roast Root Vegetables and Herb Gnocchi.

I then had Winter Berry Eton Mess with Fresh Berries and Brandy Snap Basket. ( see extra)
The others had Christmas Pudding, and instead of the Brandy Sauce, they had custard as requested. Well done chef.

Everything was beautifully cooked. The staff friendly and courteous. A perfect pub.
Have really enjoyed the company and a good catchup with family.

The pub was originally built as an ale house and farmhouse in 1533 on the Old Packhorse track running from Leeds to Halifax.
I’m glad to say it still has an old world charm though not quite as it was in the 1500’s.

“ I’m opening a The Lion, the Witch & the Wardrobe souvenir company.”

“ Really? What are you going calling it?”

“ Narnia Business.”

“ Jeez, I only asked.”
